Singapore, 15 June 2019 – From melodious ballads, enchanting jazz to heart-thumping rap, the annual Sing.Lang Concert 《SING·浪演唱会2019》brought the curtain down on a successful three-week Cultural Extravaganza by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. Held at the National Stadium for the first time, the spectacular concert saw 12 homegrown acts sharing the stage to serenade some 10,000-strong audience with an evening of popular tunes. The event was also graced by Minister for National Development, Mr. Lawrence Wong.

Said Bryn Jones, Chairman of Singapore Sports Hub, “We are proud to host this ensemble of Singapore’s amazing musical talent on our National Stadium stage. The Singapore Sports Hub brings the community closer through shared sports, entertainment and lifestyle experiences, especially with our Singaporeans. Tonight’s finale truly unified the community through this celebration and showcase of Singaporean culture and diversity.”

The Sing.Lang Concert 2019 kicks off with an opening medley performed by Derrick Hoh, Akeem Jahat, Boon Hui Lu, THELIONCITYBOY, Nathan Hartono

The third edition of Sing.Lang Concert was an evening to remember. It cast a spotlight on the diverse musical influences of Singapore, and showcased local multi-talented artistes who have made waves overseas, as well as the next generation of rising stars. The crowd was treated to riveting performances by Mandopop heavyweights Kit Chan and A-do, Sing! China runner-up Nathan Hartono, Boon Hui Lu, Derrick Hoh, female duo The Freshman, THELIONCITYBOY, Gentle Bones, Akeem Jahat, and SPOP Sing! finalists Jarrell Huang and Karena.

The Sing.Lang Concert provided a rousing finale to the three week-long Cultural Extravaganza which saw a strong line-up of cultural performances, exhibitions, workshops, talks and creative markets. Through the various programmes, members of the public came and discovered more about Singapore’s evolving and contemporary Chinese culture in our everyday life.

Chief Executive of Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, Mr Low Sze Wee said, “We are heartened by the public’s positive responses to our programmes, and will continue to find innovative ways to present our Singapore Chinese culture in engaging and accessible ways. We are grateful for the support from our arts and cultural groups, and community partners like the Singapore Sports Hub, which have helped to make our festival a success.”
