The world’s first movable type for printing was invented in China during the Song Dynasty by Bi Sheng. In the mid-15th Century, Johannes Gutenberg of Germany Mainz introduced a more efficient way of printing – Letterpress. This exhibition mainly exhibits a collection of types and presses from local traditional letterpress studio TYPESETTINGSG and also a series of print artefacts related to Singapore’s letterpress and printing history.
